[Abstract] The School of Nursing, Chiba University (CUSON) and the Capstone College of Nursing (CCN), University of Alabama, have been operating a student exchange program as part of the“Transcultural Nursing”(TCN) program since 1998, and have continued it through considerable efforts from faculty members and the cooperation of stakeholders. CUSON sent 215 undergraduate students to CCN as participants of the TCN program from 1998 to 2016 on 17 occasions. The contents of the program have changed from lectures and visits to medical facilities to more practical curricula, such as clinical practicums in the simulation lab at CCN and a practical program called“clinical immersion”at medical facilities for the pairs of CCN and CUSON students. The program has been offered by CUSON for CCN students in Chiba since 2001, and 22 students have been sent by CCN to CUSON on six occasions from 2001 to 2013. The contents of the TCN program for CCN students have also changed from mainly facility visits to more opportunities for interaction with the students and faculties of CUSON, including sessions about topics such as healthcare, nursing education, and research interests. The TCN program has enriched the students and faculties of both of CCN and CUSON, and is expected to be continued and further developed in the future.
