[ABSTRACT]The quality of radiative transfer models can be evaluated by studying the impact of these models on atmospheric parameters retrievals. For the present study, the water vapour channel (6.7μm) of the Global Imager (GLI) onboard ADEos-II satellite is used to examine the influence of a radiative transfer simulation model (RSTAR6b) on the retrieval of the clear-sky upper tropospheric relative humidity (UTRH) as observed by the ADEOS II/GLI satellite and the interaction between this humidity and the surrounding clouds.
