Trend and Problems of the Studies on Self-Reinforcement

The purpose of the present paper was to review the studies on human self-reinforcement. Firstly, we discribed the definition of the self-reinforcement and then categorized the procedures. The main results and problems of the studies were considered under the following subjects, (l) the effects of self-reinforcement on learning, (2) the acquisition of the frame of reinforcement-reference, (3) the relation of self-reinforcement to feed-back, (4) the relation between self-reinforcement and self-evaluation. We concluded from the studies described above that it was necessary to consider two points, which were contingency (how to reinforce) and feed-back (how to give it), in carriing out the experiments on self-reinforcement.
