日本語母語場面における終助詞「よ」の一考察 : 発話連鎖効力に基づく分析枠組みの試み

A study of the sentence - final particle Yo in native Japanese conversations : attempt of approach from the sequence perspective

[Abstract] To explore a new approach of the sentence final particles, we selected “Yo”, which was appears at the end of sentences, as our target final particle in this study. Starting from the modality function of grammatical aspects with the final particle “Yo”, we attempted to incorporate a new concept of sequence for classifying the function of “Yo”. According to our results, there were three chain types existed in the “Yo” sequence based on different chain type of “Yo” functions: 1) the recognitions and acceptances for conclusions, 2) the description developments for alerting, and 3) the objections for performing a "self-assertion" against the others. Previous studies have only focused on the functional classification of “Yo” based on the sentence level, which was hard to fully understand the function of “Yo”. In contrast, our study focused on the discourse level to uncover the unknown function of “Yo”.
